New Jersey Employment and Civil Rights Attorneys Applaud Supreme Court's Decision on "Obama Care"

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 18, 2012 ) Mount Laurel, NJ -- Kevin M. Costello, partner at Costello & Mains, New Jersey Civil and Employment Rights Attorneys, applauds and supports the decision by a majority of the United States Supreme Court to uphold the individual insurance requirement in the Obama Administration's Healthcare Reform.

"As an employment and civil rights attorney," Kevin says, "I individually and professionally strongly support the idea that healthcare and good health is a civil right. This country is not a medieval dictatorship. The ability of an individual to maintain minimal god health by having health insurance is a fundamental, civil and human right. I am glad that a majority of the Supreme Court felt the same way."

"Also," says partner Deborah Mains, "it's just good business. When people have health insurance, their healthcare problems are managed and they remain productive workers contributing to the tax base, employing others, and enabling others to be employed. They are producers and providers. On the other hand, when people lack even basic health insurance, their health problems can render them disabled fairly early in life. This removes them from the pool of producers and workers who contribute to the tax base and renders them disabled individuals who take benefits instead of producing them. These are people whose families may become marginalized and require benefits as well. It's not just a fundamental human right and a compassionate and wise decision, it's a decision in favor of ‘good business.’"
