Cochran Firm Reports on Hardest Hit Alabama

(USGovernment-News.Com, June 14, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- Hardest Hit Alabama (HHA) helps unemployed homeowners keep their homes. The difficult economic conditions over the past few years have affected many Americans causing them to become unemployed or underemployed. With this being said, it is no surprise that some homeowners have gotten behind on their mortgage payments. HHA is a federally-funded program committed to provide assistance to those currently drawing unemployment compensation to prevent the foreclosure of their homes within the state. The fund was created in February 2010 by an endowment from the U.S. Department of Treasury under the Emergency Economic Stabilization act of 2008. Eligible applicants receive help with their current mortgage, and HHA will contribute up to twelve monthly payments up to $15,000 per household, however, eligible unemployed homeowners with a property located in a Federally Declared Disaster County will be eligible for assistance not to exceed a total of 18 consecutive monthly payments, or $25,000. HHA has enrolled over 120 mortgage loan service providers to participate in the program.

To Qualify for Hardest Hit Alabama, you must:

• Be receiving Alabama unemployment benefits

• Have a household income of $76,440 or less (for all members of your household 18 years or older)

• Occupy the home as your primary residence

• Owe $258,690 or less on your mortgage

To Apply:

Visit Hardest Hit Alabama’s website, click “Apply Now,” and create a new account. Information you submit will be verified.
