Pradaxa Injury Lawyers Website Launched

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 29, 2012 ) New York, NY – Lawyer Central is pleased to announce that it has launched a website for patients who took blood thinning drug Pradaxa. Reportedly, the medication has been linked to a number of serious and fatal bleeding events, and has prompted a handful of lawsuits filed by Pradaxa injury lawyers across the country. If you or a loved one suffered a serious bleeding event while taking the drug, learn more about your potential legal rights by visiting http://www.pradaxa-injury-lawyers.com/ today.

In Dec. 2011, the FDA announced that it would be evaluating post-marketing reports of serious bleeding events in patients taking Pradaxa. The agency is looking to determine whether reports of Pradaxa bleeding events in users are occurring more commonly than would be expected. According to the FDA, bleeding which leads to serious or fatal outcomes is a well-known complication of all anticoagulants.

Pradaxa was approved in 2010 to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Reportedly, the drug was touted as an alternative to the difficult-to-use Coumadin (warfarin), but unlike this older blood thinner, lacked an antidote. While the anticlotting effects of Coumadin can be counteracted with a dose of Vitamin K, no such reversal agent exists for Pradaxa. Therefore, in the event of an unexpected injury, Pradaxa users may not be able to form blood clots to stop uncontrollable bleeding. According to reports, the only way to reverse the blood thinning effects of Pradaxa is to perform dialysis.

Three Pradaxa lawsuits have reportedly been filed and are believed to be the first federal Pradaxa injury and death cases in the country. One suit claims that a Tennessee woman suffered a fatal gastrointestinal bleed due to her use of Pradaxa. In light of allegations that the manufacturer failed to properly warn the public and medical community of the Pradaxa bleeding risk, legal recourse may be available to those who suffered a severe bleed while taking the drug, as well as loved ones acting on their behalf. The Pradaxa injury lawyers working with the site are providing an online case review at no cost and with no obligation.
