ATTORNEY MIKE DAMASO OF WOOTEN, KIMBROUGH & NORMAND, P.A., COORDINATES REGIONAL MOCK TRIAL COMPETITION

ORLANDO, Florida -- The law firm of Wooten, Kimbrough & Normand, P.A. is proud to announce that Michael Damaso, a personal injury attorney with the firm, was selected to serve as competition coordinator for the National Mock Trial Competition, Southeast Regional. Council Wooten, Jr. and Orman Kimbrough, partners at the firm, volunteered as judges during the event, which offered Florida law students the chance to work with legal professionals in a practical setting.

Damaso organized the major event in which more than 300 lawyers and judges from around Florida traveled to Barry Law School to participate as judges and jury members in the mock trials. Students from law schools in Florida, Alabama and Mississippi converged on Barry Law School, also DamasoÂ’s alma mater, and worked in teams to argue a case, examine witnesses and develop their legal skills. The competition was one of the two largest of its kind in the United States.

“This was a great opportunity for law students to spend some time with the practicing lawyers and judges who served as volunteers,” Damaso said. “These students have learned to become very effective advocates, and I want to thank everyone who helped make this event such a huge success.”

The event featured 24 teams of students from 12 Florida law schools. Students faced off in a fictional negligence and wrongful death case after a motor vehicle accident. Damaso, a 2005 graduate of Berry Law School, is active in the Barry alumni association and was thrilled to organize an event that drew such strong support from many legal communities. Wooten and Kimbrough were proud to work with the students and spend time with them after the event, discussing the case and the law.

Wooten, Kimbrough & Normand, P.A. has spent over 45 years representing persons injured by someone elseÂ’s negligence. The firm and its attorneys have deep roots in Orlando and Central Florida, and its attorneys believe their clients deserve respect, understanding and experience from their counsel. Through events like the National Mock Trial Competition, the firm enjoys the opportunity to serve and participate in the local community.
