According to recent television coverage and court records, records, the locksmith company's owners face charges for deceptive practices.
Undercover investigations showed how employees of the locksmith company did business. The undercover investigation revealed how they quoted customers one price over the phone, but then tried to charge a whole lot more. For example, the dispatcher quoted a price of $54 for a car lockout, but the locksmith technician charged $179.
The owners of the locksmith company are facing federal charges after agents raided the company's headquarters. They seized computers and documents and even took one of the owners off in hand-cuffs.
To minimize the risk of being scammed by a locksmith company in Houston, Fred Trotter recommends:
1. Ensure that you only use a reputable, licensed, bonded and insured locksmith with a verifiable physical office in Houston.
2. Make sure that your locksmith has an identification card called "The Pocket Card". This official locksmith ID is required to be present with the locksmith when performing locksmith service

3. Check out what others think of the locksmith company by checking review sites like RipOffReport.com and ComplaintBoard.com.
4. Once the locksmith arrives, confirm the quoted price before the locksmith provides your specific service.
