(USGovernment-News.Com, August 06, 2016 ) Cincinnati, OH -- According to KMOV, 30 year old Natalie Russell is in jail on charges of first degree murder and child abuse after her 22 month old daughter, Adalynn died of accidental drug overdose. The tragedy occurred on April 14th when the toddler ingested her mother's methadone medication, which she was using to treat her methamphetamine addiction.
After recognising the accident, Russell neglected to contact emergency responders, instead electing to follow misguided information she gained online and injected her daughter with methamphetamine. Adalynn Russell died on the scene and her cause of death was determined to be overdose of methamphetamine and methadone.
The unfortunate reality is this tragic occurrence is not as uncommon as one would like to believe. As any facility providing drug rehab in Cincinnati or throughout the country can attest, substance abuse disorders hijack the mind, disrupting one's thought process and priorities. Cincinnati Drug Rehab, a leader in the industry, stresses the need for greater access to better resources for parents with histories of substance abuse.
A representative of Cincinnati Drug Rehab comments: "While this tragedy has shaken many to it's core, we must reserve our judgement on the mother and recognise the underlying problem here. A child's life could have been saved were it not for the fear of legal and social consequences. Threats of losing their children to the foster care system, jail time, and shunning lead desperate parents alone in overcoming addiction and dealing with the stress associated with raising children. We must do better as society to protect those who are vulnerable to the effects of substance abuse, especially those who are left defenceless to it."
