Drug and Alcohol Rehab Columbus Fights the IMD Exclusion Rule

(USGovernment-News.Com, June 07, 2016 ) Columbus, Ohio -- A 50 year old law, Medical Institutions of Mental Disease (IMD) is preventing people aged from 21-65 from getting the drug and alcohol addiction treatment they need to save their lives. According to Cleveland, IMD prevents Medicaid programs from paying for patients who are currently enrolled in a behavioral health facility that has over 16 treatment beds in total. The law was initially implemented to encourage community healthcare, as opposed to supporting large rehabilitation businesses. Drug and Alcohol Rehab Columbus provides drug rehab in Ohio, and asserts the IMD must be eliminated.

A spokesperson from Drug and Alcohol Rehab says: "Despite good intentions, we are in the face of an opiate epidemic, which no one should die from, because we have treatment. And yet the overdose death tolls continue to rise from month to month- sometimes in the span of a few days. It is well known addiction plagues all socioeconomic statuses. Those reliant on medication to treat addiction- heroin rehab in Columbus, for example- have no means of getting the treatment they need. The IMD is essentially condemning them to death, or the potential of suffering multiple overdoses, incurring permanent brain damage and deterioration of motor skills.

Inpatient drug rehabilitation is absolutely essential in remedying drug and alcohol addiction in its entirety. Outpatient rehabilitation is not intended to treat patients who are just coming into recovery. Outpatient treatment is specifically for patients who have gone through the rings of intensive therapy, life skill coaching, and comprehensive aftercare planning and goal setting. Beginning with outpatient rehabilitation is a death sentence in the opiate crisis."

Drug and Alcohol Rehab Columbus accepts most major insurance plans, and specializes in heroin rehab in Columbus. The treatment facility accepts patients from across the nation into drug rehab in Columbus.

For those without insurance, the rehabilitation assists potential clients in connecting with available resources to help get coverage. For more information about Drug and Alcohol Rehab Columbus visit http://drugandalcoholrehabcolumbus.com/ or call (614) 945-4163.
