Pilots Regularly Failing Alcohol and Drug Tests, Drug Rehab Newark Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, May 22, 2016 ) Newark, NJ -- As reported by the Daily Mail, one pilot a month violated the drug and alcohol regulations set forth by Federal Aviation Administration between 2010 and 2015, with over three dozen testing positive for illegal drugs last year alone. Due to the high level of awareness and responsibility required for safely piloting an aircraft, pilots have much stricter constraints on their consumption of illicit substances, especially in the 24 hours before any flight. For pilots, the blood alcohol limit is 0.04, half the national limit; there is a zero tolerance policy for illegal substances. In March 2016, a co-pilot was arrested after failing a breathalyzer test at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Rehabilitation centers which help people recovering from alcohol abuse disorders, such as Drug Rehab Newark, intimately understand the negative effects of alcohol abuse on one's health, both mentally and physically. The effect of alcohol or drugs can greatly affect one's coordination, judgement, and ability to react properly, all things necessary in the aviation profession. Alcohol rehab in Newark helps people struggling with the effects of alcohol abuse.

A representative of Drug Rehab Newark, which provides alcohol rehab in Newark, comments:

"Though a vast majority of pilots are within the constraints set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration, that there is an average of one pilot a month who fails pre-flight tests for substance use is concerning. Fliers should be confident in the competency of their pilots and other crew members aboard their plane, there's a reason these guidelines are in place afterall."
