(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 09, 2009 ) USgovernment-News.Com - Washington, DC - On Tuesday morning, Secretary Geithner will testify before the Senate Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee. Secretary Geithner will discuss how the AdministrationÂ’s Budget proposal will help meet goals of economic recovery and reform. He will specifically address reforming the tax Code to be more fair and more efficient, creating jobs by bolstering the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund, and promoting fiscal responsibility throughout the DepartmentÂ’s programs and initiatives. This hearing, which will be held in room 138 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building, is open press.
In the afternoon, Secretary Geithner will meet with Ambassador designate to China, Governor Jon M. Huntsman. The two will discuss the results of the Secretary's recent trip to Beijing, during which he met with key Chinese officials on the outlook for the U.S. and Chinese economies, measures to promote economic recovery and opportunities for both countries to collaborate. Also in the afternoon, Secretary Geithner will hold a pen and pad briefing previewing his trip to the G-8 Meeting of Finance Ministers in Lecce, Italy this week. He will discuss the Treasury DepartmentÂ’s continued coordination with our partners in Europe, Canada and Japan to ensure there is concerted action around the globe to jumpstart economic growth and advance a regulatory reform agenda that will help prevent future economic crises.
