11 Arrested In Orlando Heroin Trafficking Bust, Miami Drug Rehab Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, March 08, 2016 ) Miami, FL -- The Miami Herald reports that eleven people have been arrested in Orlando in connection to a heroin trafficking operation. Going by the name of "La Compania" (The Company), the drug traffickers sold an average of 2.2 pounds of heroin per week from the parking lots of local restaurants along International Drive in the Orlando tourist district. Reports state they sold as many as 200 baggies of heroin to drug dealers, including undercover officers, at about $10 a bag.

In the time between January 1st and February 20th, Orlando has experienced 75 heroin-related overdoses; Orlando County Sheriff Jerry Demings says eight were fatal.

Miami Drug Rehab is all too familiar with the trouble caused by heroin in Florida. As a leading provider of heroin rehab in Miami, the professional and dedicated staff of Miami Drug Rehab knows how quickly the opiate can spread across the state and the country. Because they work closely with people struggling with the effects of heroin addiction, Miami Drug Rehab commends all efforts to keep this potentially fatal illicit substance off of the streets of Florida.

A representative of Miami Drug Rehab commented,

"Heroin, or any drug for that matter, does not stay in any isolated area of the country. South Florida is seeing that right now with Flakka; it is branching across the southern states and into the midwest by way of Fort Lauderdale and other South Florida cities. Heroin is definitely one of the most widely spread drugs we see abused today, and so any time we can remove even a small portion of the supply available on the streets it's a victory. In combination with the efforts of Miami Drug Rehab and other facilities offering heroin rehab in Miami and across the state, we can win this battle against addiction one fight at a time."
