(USGovernment-News.Com, March 07, 2016 ) Cincinnati, OH -- According to Cincinnati.com, public health officials throughout Hamilton County, Ohio and Northern Kentucky are reporting a massive increase in new Hepatitis C cases in 2015- 1,000 were reported, raising the region's record to nearly 4,000 people infected by the potentially debilitating and deadly disease. The rapid spread of Hepatitis C has been directly attributed to the rampant use of heroin throughout the area, and across the country.
These new findings show a 43 percent increase between 2014 and 2015, leaving some public health officials to fear for an increase of another deadly, blood-born disease, HIV. Only 25 percent of Hepatitis C sufferers will recover, with 75 percent developing chronic Hepatitis C, which can destroy the liver and damage other internal organs.
