Radars transmit radio waves in the direction of the target, which bounce off the object and reflect back to a receiver, which are then analyzed by the receiver. Military radars are used mainly for security and surveillance applications (airborne, maritime, and land-based) to monitor a wide range of targets such as aircraft, missiles, UAVs, naval vessels, and military vehicles.
