Obama: Mom, Go Back to School and Earn a College Degree. The Government Has Money for Your Online Education.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 29, 2009 ) April 29, 2009 Fort Lauderdale

President Obama values the importance of a college education, and heÂ’s encouraging millions of Americans, including single moms and hardworking employees earning minimum wage, to earn a college degree. Talk is cheap, though, and many people donÂ’t believe they have the money to go back to school and do this. Knowing this, the President has urged Congress to back his words with cold hard cash.

Federal Pell grants are government monies given to students meeting certain income guidelines to help them earn a college degree. Often, people working full-time who earn minimum wage can qualify for these grants. Pell grants also allow single moms to go back to school and earn a degree without quitting their jobs and raising their children on public assistance funds.

Best of all, people can use Pell grants to fund online studies programs. Hardworking employees can keep their jobs and go back to school to get a degree that will help them land a better-paying job or a profitable promotion. Now they can earn a degree online and study after the dayÂ’s work is done.

Online degree programs also help single moms and parents with young children because they donÂ’t have to pay for expensive daycare programs while they are in school. Instead, online university degree programs allow people to study at home alongside their children, or after the children are in bed.

Parents donÂ’t have to miss their childrenÂ’s special events, either. The flexibility of online studies programs allows college students to study and learn at their own pace. If students have spare time, they can work ahead. If the work week is busy, their online courses will be right there waiting when they have time to study again.

Thanks to President ObamaÂ’s legislation, more than seven million people will now be able to use Pell grants to earn a degree online or through a traditional university. Grants of up to $5,500 are being offered to people who meet certain income guidelines. Are you one of these people?
