(USGovernment-News.Com, November 26, 2015 ) Florida -- Drug courts are proving useful to those who commit non-violent drug related crimes- but Chief Judge Frederick Lauten want to make the process even easier, on those in the program, and on the court system. As it stand the drug courts are disjointed between many presiding judges, and constantly shifting attorneys. Lauten wants to streamline this process by appointing one presiding judge, and a handful of full-time attorneys to tackle the cases. The new "Problem Solving" court would focus on treating the underlying causes of addiction as to positively decline rates of recidivism. Drug Florida Rehab is both a detoxification and rehabilitation center serving the entire state of Florida. The facility asserts adopting similar policies across the state will help to re-acclimate people in recovery to society more readily than the traditional model.
An associate from the rehabilitation center comments, "It's not enough to help people go through the drug courts if they are not able to address the underlying causes of addiction. It's great to learn the tools, but without getting underneath the disease, there cannot be true change that is long lasting. Helping those with untreated substance use disorders learn how to cope with the underbelly of addiction is imperative to keep them away from drugs and crime in the future. It's not just about being sober, it is being able to use alternative methods of dealing with feelings of depression, anxiety, and anger. With a system designed to help underline and redress the ultimate precipitators of addiction, we will see a considerable drop in recidivism, despite going through the program for rehabilitation."
Drug Florida Rehab focuses on helping those with untreated substance use disorders understand the underlying causes of addiction, and helps them to address problematic behaviors and tendencies through cognitive behavioral therapy. The goal of treatment is to ultimately position clients to function independently after the completion of treatment without reliance on addictive substances.
