He comments, "With the power load shedding that is random at times. Generators are becoming a much more preferred and appreciated power alternative source. He adds, "You cannot just purchase any generator without knowing some basics. Check the labels that are on your appliances, lighting, and equipment that you want to connect the generator to. Many appliances have power labels on them. Make sure that you are aware of the amount of power that will be able to operate all you equipment.
The generator that you select must produce more power for all your needs, if it does not you must have a strategy to stagger the times at which you operate the equipment. He adds, "People with generators at home should be aware of dangers that a generator can pose. For instance generators produce carbon monoxide from the toxic engine exhaust. Some unfortunate individuals have died due to generator related incidents. Avoid getting electrocuted or causing a fire by not following the instructions manual supplied with the generator."
He warned that portable generators should not be used indoors. He comments, "Do not use portable generators indoors or in enclosed places. Failure to abide by this caution will result in CO building up in your home and this can lead to incapacitation and death. The first symptoms of being exposed to CO are dizziness and an unusual feeling of weakness.
Co is a threat because it cannot be smelled even seen, so it poses a danger threat. In comparison to the danger, it causes it's like fighting an invisible fight with Goliath. A safety precaution you can take is to install a battery that has a CO alarm and to frequently test the battery and make sure it's in its best form. "
He added, "Even if the generator is outside, make sure that it is far aware from doors, windows and vents so as to dismiss any possible route that CO can find its way indoors. To avoid getting electrocuted avoid using the generator in wet conditions and always keep it dry, place it on a dry surface so as to avoids moisture and never touch the generator with wet hands."
