(USGovernment-News.Com, January 15, 2015 ) Cincinnati, OH -- In Cincinnati, a spine doctor was recently found guilty of medical malpractice for operating on a woman’s back when the procedure was not truly necessary. Now, the doctor has gone missing.
It was explained to the jury that Dr. Abubakar Durrani purposely frightened the female patient into believing that the surgical procedure was not only necessary, but that it should also performed right away. Furthermore, after the surgery was completed, the doctor allowed very little downtime before he had convinced the patient that she should undergo yet another procedure. The jury agreed that there was not enough time after her initial operation to fully understand if her issues had been resolved or not yet.
As a result, the jury awarded the victim compensatory and punitive damages, along with money for her time taken off work and lost wages. With everything added up, she has been awarded a total of $790,000.00.
The attorney of the negligent doctor is planning to appeal the verdict, however the victim’s attorney stands firm and believes that his client will, in fact, receive her compensation.
Not only is Dr. Durrani in serious trouble from what he did to this client, but he also may be facing federal charges, as well as lawsuits from many of his other clients.
As of right now, it is believed that he has fled the country.
