(USGovernment-News.Com, December 04, 2013 ) On October 15 popular business news blog DigitalOlympus.com comments on recent reuters.com news story by Bernard Vaughan published on October 14 concerning Chevron Corp which will make attempts to persuade a U.S. judge this week that a group of Ecuadorean villagers, and their U.S. lawyer used illegal means to win an $18 billion judgment against Chevron from a court in Ecuador.
According to the reuters.com news piece, the hearing in New York is the latest saga in the dispute over contamination in the Amazon jungle. In a hearing set to commence on Tuesday, the oil firm is requesting a federal court in New York to stop the villagers and their Harvard-educated lawyer, Steven Donziger, from using U.S. courts to implement the Ecuadorean judgment.
“Chevron has a chance of presenting their case once more in a New York court this time,” says DigitalOlympus.com spokesperson. “It’s now up to the oil firm to seek the service of a firm that specialize in litigation support services to enable it back up its case with the right proofs.”
The reuters.com news further states that a win in the United States would possibly help Chevron’s defense in other nations where Donziger and the villagers may try to implement the judgment.
