Honda Recalls More Than 340,000 Minivans Due to Brake Issue Reports Levinson Axelrod

(USGovernment-News.Com, November 08, 2013 ) New Jersey, US – Just a few days into November, Honda has announced the recall of 344,000 Odyssey minivans due to an issue with the vehicle’s stability control.

Approximately 344,187 Honda Odyssey 2007 to 2008 models are being recalled due to an error that could prevent software from calibrating correctly. The problem could then lead to pressure build up in the braking system and the vehicle could unexpectedly brake hard without illuminating the brake lights.

Although Honda has not reported any car accidents or injuries caused by the fault, the sudden braking of the vehicle and failure to notify fellow motorists could lead to an accident.

Unfortunately, to fix the problem Honda owners will need a new yaw sensor which will not be available until spring 2014. Honda will be notifying affected owners by mail and provide measures they can take to avoid the problem including starting the vehicle up with wheels facing straight ahead which will allow the system to calibrate. Should the vehicle brake suddenly owners are being advised to tap on the brake pedal to stop the self-braking.

This is the second time this year Odyssey minivans have been recalled, in April the vehicle model along with several others were recalled due to the possibility that in sub-freezing temperatures the vehicle could shift out of park even when the brake pedal was not depressed.

Once the sensor is available, Honda owners will be notified so that they may take their vehicles in for free repair.

Each day a new recall that could cause injury or illness is announced due to manufacturer failures. If you or a loved one has been injured due a defective product or medication, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and more.
