(USGovernment-News.Com, September 28, 2013 ) CINCINNATI, OH — A motorcyclist in Colerain Township may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident that caused his death, Colerain police report.
46-year-old Anthony Meyer was traveling down Colerain Avenue near a curve in Day Road when he lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree on the side of the road. Authorities stated that Meyer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, but that the investigation is still pending.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, helmet use among motorcyclists is up from 48% in 2005 to 67% in 2009 nationally, while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state that helmet use prevents approximately 37% of motorcycle fatalities.
