(USGovernment-News.Com, September 28, 2013 ) SACRAMENTO, CA — Transmission issues with several older model Toyota Sienna minivans are prompting a recall from the automotive giant, and in all 615,000 vehicles have been affected.: model years 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
The danger is in the minivan’s potential to roll away while in park, shifting without a driver pushing the pedal. Toyota says the issue is in the car’s electrical component called a solenoid, which may be damaged, causing the car to shift slightly, though not completely out of park. A spokeswoman clarified that the lever still needs to be pushed manually in order for the van to shift out of park completely.
Drivers who are affected by the recall can bring their car back to the dealer and be fitted for new solenoids, which should relieve the issue, though Toyota has not officially contacted owners yet.
