Former University of Tennessee Players Sue NCAA Over Concussion Claims Reports Greg Coleman Law

(USGovernment-News.Com, September 21, 2013 ) Knoxville, TN. – Chris Walker and Ben Martin, former University of Tennessee players, along with another former collegiate football player are suing the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for failing to educate them about the seriousness of concussions.

All three athletes claim that the NCAA failed to properly education them about concussions, how to prevent them, diagnose them, and treat them.

Between 1997 and 2011 Martin and Walker were defensive ends for University of Tennessee’s Volunteers and Dan Ahern played for North Carolina between 1972 and 1976. On Wednesday in Chattanooga their attorney filed a class-action lawsuit on their behalf.

In their complaints the players say that they suffered head trauma during scrimmages, practices, and games throughout their careers and now suffer from severe headaches. Ahern specifically claims that he suffers from memory problems, ringing in his ears, and sleeping problems.

According to the Associated Press NCAA chief legal officer Donald Remy has not yet been able to review and evaluate the lawsuit.

The suit was filed just weeks after the National Football league and former players settled a concussion-related lawsuit for more than $760 million.

Sports injuries are common however when coaches and staff fail to properly educate and treat injured players, it may be considered negligence. If you or a loved one has suffered a sports injury due to another individual’s negligence, the victim may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and more.
