(USGovernment-News.Com, September 19, 2013 ) SACRAMENTO, CA — While riding along the Folsom Lake Bike Trail the night of Sunday, September 15, Debbie Bedford became tangled in a string of fishing line that police now believe to be part of a prank.
Bedford’s neck was gashed wide, leaving a scar approximately four inches long, which required stitches to close. Officials say they received a complaint about a similar incident near Hazel Bridge, which led them to investigate whether the fishing line was in the area by accident or as a cruel prank.
“If you are caught setting up a trap like that, you could be severely punished,” said John Stevens, a park ranger. Bedford knows that she was fortunate the fishing line did not do more damage, remarking that if her head had been positioned differently, permanent damage could have been done to her eyes.
