(USGovernment-News.Com, September 07, 2013 ) TEMPE, AZ -- Early Monday morning a 19-year-old boy was nearly beaten to death because he was a member of the ASU fraternity Sigma Phi epsilon. The suspects in the incident are members of the rival fraternity Pi Kappa Alpha.
The incident took place in an elevator, where a female resident discovered the severely beaten boy, and it was believed that the frat members corralled the victim into the elevator as soon as the door opened.
The victim of the incident remains in the hospital had has undergone multiple surgeries as he was severely injured, and his jaw has been wired shut. While no weapons were used, the victim was punched and kicked repeatedly leaving him with severe head trauma.
It was reported that the rival fraternity brothers were drinking earlier that night, which most likely led to their poor decision making. Tom Ryff, Tempe Police said “Don’t put yourself in the position to make poor choices and go out and wreak havoc and take a thug mentality on our community and think that you can get away with it.”
With over 70,000 ASU students, police officers are used to dealing with alcohol related problems. It is simply unfortunate when alcohol leads to incidents such as this leaving a victim seriously injured.
As far as the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity suspects, they are facing aggravated assault charges along with unlawful imprisonment.
