(USGovernment-News.Com, August 14, 2013 ) Dixon, CA – Early Tuesday morning a California truck driver experienced a close call that led to the spill of 26,000 pounds of tomatoes. According to the driver, when one of two vehicles traveling towards him on Pedrick Road entered his lane, he swerved to avoid hitting the vehicle which caused his trailer to tip over.
According to Dixon law enforcement, the driver was headed toward the Campbell’s plant with a truckload of tomatoes when the incident happened. The driver continued toward the plant with his tipped truck, but eventually stopped. Pedrick road was closed until about 6:15 a.m. once the spill had been cleaned.
The driver was not injured in the incident and no other information about the other vehicles was provided.
Each year there are approximately 18,000 truck accidents involving semi-trailers and according to the United States Department of Transportation in 2011 there were more than 273,000 accidents involving large trucks.
