(USGovernment-News.Com, July 25, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Storms and heavy winds of up to 70 miles an hour stretched across Ohio on Wednesday, causing flash floods and power outages caused by wind damage throughout the state. The storms downed power lines, tore off roofs and dumped more rain into the lakes and rivers in Ohio.
The National Weather Services said that while the storms that hit Ohio were more than likely not derechos, there were several tornadoes that touched down, one that toppled a barn in Rowsburg, just southwest of Akron. No injuries were reported from the tornadoes, but several other buildings and homes were damaged from gusts of winds and trees.
The Red Cross still has open shelters all across the state. Volunteers in Tuscarawas County help provide water and to senior citizen residents in a senior apartment community that is still without power three days later.
Flood warnings were still in effect on Thursday evening for some counties, and the Ohio Department of Insurance put tips and notes up for filing claims for wind and water damaged homes. Since then, most flood warnings have been lifted and no severe weather is expected to hit in the next few days.
