Three Injured in Two Car Wrecks Involving the Same Semi-Trailer Reports The Edwards Law Firm

(USGovernment-News.Com, June 20, 2013 ) Tulsa, OK – Three drivers and passengers were taken to local area hospitals after two different car wrecks involving the same semi-trailer occurred on U.S Highway 412 Wednesday morning.

The first collision happened just before 8a.m. as a Toyota Prius headed east crushed into a semi-trailer. The small car’s driver failed to yield to the large truck and said he didn’t even see the semi. The driver and passenger of the car were transported to a local area hospital and were both awake and responsive at the scene of the collision.

The semi-trailer was flipped onto its side and its cargo of wheat spilled into a nearby ditch; the driver was not injured.

As crews worked to clean-up the accident scene, a vehicle traveling westbound on U.S 412 struck a wrecker that was picking up the crushed Toyota Prius. According to police the driver was distracted, likely by her cell phone, at the time of the incident. The driver of the vehicle was traveling at full highway speed when she hit the tow truck; she was rushed to the hospital as well.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration more than 273,000 large trucks were involved in collisions in 2011, a 2.6 percent increase compared to 2010. In Oklahoma specifically more than 4,500 truck collisions were reported that same year. Additionally, nearly 13,000 collisions were the result of a driver failing to yield.

If you or a loved one has been injured a truck accident caused by a negligent driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical expenses, lost wages, and more. An experienced Tulsa truck accident attorney can help you determine if you may be eligible to make a claim. Visit www.edwardslawok.com to learn more about what your legal rights may be.
