Honda Issues Recalls for Faulty Brake Booster Reports Greg Coleman Law

(USGovernment-News.Com, June 19, 2013 ) KNOXVILLE, TN – American Honda Motor Co. issued a recall this past week for 18,352 vehicles manufactured in 2006 because of a faulty brake booster. The affected vehicles include the 2006 Acura RSX, models manufactured between Jan. 18 and Aug. 12 (recall no. JA5), and 2006 – 2007 Honda S2000, models manufactured between Jan. 16 and Nov. 13 (recall no. JA4).

The potentially defective brake booster may not maintain a vacuum when the brake’s pedal is pressed, which decreases brake assist. Reduced brake assist can cause the vehicle to require more force on the brake pedal in order to maintain similar stopping distance; if additional pressure is not used, a lengthened stopping distance can lead to severe auto accidents.

Those affected by the recall will be notified by Honda, and will be able to have the brake booster assembly inspected at a dealership. If the brake booster is found to be faulty, vehicle owners are eligible for a free replacement at the dealership. The recall is scheduled to begin on July 12, 2013, and concerned owners may contact Honda at 310-783-2000.

Those who have been involved in an auto accident to a faulty brake booster may be eligible for compensation for any damages sustained in the crash. Greg Coleman Law offers free case evaluations for victims affected by product liability in Knoxville and throughout the Knox County area.
