(USGovernment-News.Com, June 09, 2013 ) Las Vegas, NV -- Property crime was also reported more in Las Vegas in 2012 than in 2011. However, murders did drop from 82 in 2011 to 76 last year, and forcible rapes declined from 651 to 596. Henderson County robberies rose from 3,493 to 3,824 and aggravated assaults increased from
6,587 to 7,102.
There were also 46,427 reported property crimes to Henderson Police in 2012, up 5,001 (12.1 percent) from the 41,426 reported in 2011. This involved increases in larcenies and theft, from 21,977 to 25,522, and burglaries, from 12,662 to 14,220. There were, however, declines in motor vehicle theft and arson, though not by much. Neither crime dropped by more than 100.
Nationally, violent crimes rose 1.2 percent while property crimes dropped by eight-tenths of 1percent. Another study from the Department of Justice, however, shows that violent crimes are down 34 percent.
In comparison, North Las Vegas Police in 2012 received 1,695 violent crime reports and responded to 5,534 property crimes, but the FBI did not have comparable 2011 data for that jurisdiction, so those numbers cannot be assessed.
