(USGovernment-News.Com, June 06, 2013 ) Payne County, OK – Oklahoma Highway Patrol has reported two fatalities after a vehicle and semi-trailer are involved in a head-on collision. According to reports 63-year-old Sharon Wilson was driving east on State Highway 33 when her vehicle crossed over the line and collided with an oncoming semi.
Wilson’s vehicle caught fire and the semi-trailer jackknifed and rolled over onto its passenger side. Robert Wilson was also in the vehicle at the time of the collision. Both the driver and passenger were killed during the collision; the semi-trailer driver was treated and released from Stillwater Hospital.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, in 2011, more than 5.3 million large truck accidents were reported. Specifically in Oklahoma more than 4,000 large truck accidents were on record that same year, of which 76 were fatal. Truck accidents are an unfortunate but common day occurrence throughout the state of Oklahoma.
