Branford Mom Campaigns to Stop Drivers from Speeding Reports Jonathan Perkins Injury Lawyers

(USGovernment-News.Com, May 10, 2013 ) Branford, CT – Four years ago Lynn Riordan lost her son, Matt, to a speed-related crash right before his high school graduation. Since then Lynn has worked tirelessly to inform drivers of the dangers of speeding and has raised more than $100,000 for Matt’s Mission Fund which helps to provide scholarships for students in North Branford, Guilford, Branford and East Haven. The fundraising efforts also provide further funds for school activities and summer camp attendees.

Since early May “No Need to Speed Signs” have been placed on North Branford roadways to encourage drivers to slow down. On May 19th, what started as a remembrance walk for Matt and has now turned into a full-on 5k event will take place guiding runners through residential neighborhoods in North Branford and end at North Branford High School. Lynn is expecting a record number of race participants this year.

"I am proud to call Matthew Picciuto my son and my heart is happy knowing he makes a difference every single day in the lives of so many” Riordan told the Guilford Patch.

According to the Center for Disease Control males between the ages of 16 and 19 are two times more likely to be involved in car collisions compared to their female counterparts. Furthermore, motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death for U.S teens. Approximately 9.4 percent of crashes reported in 2008 throughout Connecticut were speed-related.

If you or a loved one has been injured in a car accident caused by a speeding driver, the victim may be entitled to compensation for property damage, medical bills, lost wages, and more. An experienced Branford auto accident attorney can help you determine if you may be entitled to make a claim.
