(USGovernment-News.Com, May 06, 2013 ) NATIONWIDE Nestle USA announced a recall of several varieties of frozen pizza Friday, affecting supermarkets carrying the product and consumers who may have purchased the pizzas, which were produced in February and March. The company had received complaints of clear fragments of plastic from a small number of consumers before initiating the voluntary recall.
Nestle has already been issued recalls over product safety concerns for several items already this year, including meat products that tested positive for horse DNA and a variety of Lean Cuisine mushroom ravioli that may have contained glass fragments.
The varieties of frozen pizza that are being recalled are:
California Pizza Kitchen Crispy Thin Crust White
The plastic fragments were only found in the California Pizza Kitchen Thin Crust White Pizzas, but were traced to a parcel of spinach from one of the companys suppliers that was used in the three other varieties.
Nestle said in a statement, We apologize to our retail customers and consumers and sincerely regret any inconvenience created by this voluntary product recall. Food stores have been instructed to remove the products from shelves, and consumers who have purchased the pizzas can contact Nestle USA by calling 800-456-4394 or email nestlepizza@casupport.com for a replacement.
