(USGovernment-News.Com, May 02, 2013 ) Winston-Salem NC A recent study which tracked child injuries at amusement parks, festivals, restaurants, fairs, arcades, malls and stores found that there were over 4,400 ride related injuries to our children each year.
These studies also found that over 70 percent of injuries occurred from May to September during the warmer weather months, and occurred at a rate of 20 injuries per day. The most common type of injury caused by these rides was head and neck injuries followed by injuries to the arms, face, legs, and soft tissue.
In most cases, these types of injuries are avoidable by simply following the directions listed prior to getting on the ride. Of course, when we fail to follow these directions accidents causing injuries often occur.
A few safety tips for parents to follow include:
Avoid mall rides that are not over a large padded surface or provide safety equipment Dont allow children on the ride if they wont follow the rules Follow recommended height, weight, age, and health restrictions Follow specific seating orders or loading instructions If safety is an issue; choose another ride Keep your hands and feet inside the ride Use proper safety equipment like safety bars and seatbelts
