(USGovernment-News.Com, April 08, 2013 ) SACRAMENTO, CA - Thursday morning’s commute was delayed by several accidents and hampered by rain that caused slippery road conditions from 5:00am – 9:30am. A pickup driver lost his life just after 7:00am, as his vehicle careened off the freeway, down an embankment and struck a tree, in the El Camino area. According to a highway worker interviewed on the scene, it is likely that the road’s wet conditions and the driver’s speed contributed to the fatal injury.
A big rig delayed motorists just south of Seamas Avenue, where the truck crashed into a center divide just after 6:30am. The bottom of the rig was torn off, but fortunately no injuries resulted. The South Sacramento truck accident caused backup in both the north and southbound lanes for more than 2 hours, as lanes were closed to clear the vehicle and debris.
The city may be in need of water after a dry winter, but the spring rains will affect California roads. It is important for drivers of all automobiles to be responsible when driving in wet conditions in order to avoid accidents that could end in injury or even death.
Drivers should be alert, avoid distractions and depart with ample time to arrive at their destination while driving at a moderate speed.
