Better Detroit Youth Movement: Overview of Group

What's wrong with Detroit media? by Cedric Brown of BDYM
(USGovernment-News.Com, January 03, 2013 ) Detroit, MI – It is hardly news that the City of Detroit has lost many people as it has been suffering through this recent economic depression more than many other places in the country. Many local people complain that there is not any hope in the near or distant future. However, one group has a different take on changing Detroit. The Better Detroit Youth Movement focuses on giving kids in Detroit the right resources and support to help them grow the right way and succeed without having to leave the city. The Better Detroit Youth Movement will be hosting an open house meeting on Tuesday, January 8, at Jay Fades barbershop on 17178 Livernois in Detroit from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The open house will be an opportunity for people who are interested in being part of the solution to helping Detroit recover and rebuild. During the meeting, different youth-based initiatives will be discussed, helping find ways to promote the city.

The Better Detroit Youth Movement (BDYM) is a non-profit coalition of positive-minded individuals and groups who are committed to working together with communities, parents, schools and students to improve the quality of life and learning for the city's children. The organization meets weekly every Tuesday between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to engage its members in positive, open-minded dialogue. Members do not have to be Detroit residents, and people of all ages are invited to attend.
