Cochran Firm Reports on Laketran Services

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 23, 2012 ) Laketran serves as the regional transportation service for Lake County, Ohio. Laketran provides three types of bus services that are open to the public. These services include: local fixed routes, commuter express routes and demand response. In order to receive local routes services, a fare of $1.75 is required. Seniors, children ages 2-12 and citizens with disabilities with a Golden Buckeye, Medicare Card, ADA or Student Reduced Fare card may pay a reduced fare of $0.75. Children under age 2 may ride at no cost. Individuals who wish to ride the Commuter Express Routes 10-14, must pay a regular fare of $3.75.



Listed below is a brief description of the agency’s door-to-door, assisted transportation shared-ride service:



Dial-a-Ride – This unique transportation assistance service will take riders anywhere in Lake County. Dial-a-Ride may be used by any Lake County residents. This transportation service will pick up riders at their homes or other location and drop them off at work, medical appointments, or any other destination in Lake County. Reservations are required for individuals who wish to use the Dial-a-Ride service. Reservations can be made up to a week in advance, but must be made at least two business days in advance. If you need to cancel your ride, you must cancel at least two hours in advance to avoid being considered a “no-show.” Dial-a-Ride may be reached by calling (440) 350-1099. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.



Dial-a-Ride Fares: In order to receive Dial-a-Ride services, fares must be paid when boarding the bus. Riders must pay the regular fare of $10.00. Seniors, children ages 2-12 and individuals with disabilities are offered a discount, and may pay $2.50 with a Golden Buckeye, Medicare Card, ADA, or Student Reduced Fare Card. Children under age 2 or personal care attendants for ADA eligible trips may ride at no cost. Dial-a-Ride also offers medical service to Cleveland medical facilities. Individuals who wish to use this medical service may pay a regular fare of $20.00. Seniors and people with disabilities with a Golden Buckeye, Medicare Card, or Student Reduced Fare Card may pay a fare of $5.00. When paying a discounted fare, an I.D. must be presented each time bus is boarded along with a Golden Buckeye Card, Medicare card or Laketran-issued ADA or Reduced Fare Identification.
