(USGovernment-News.Com, October 07, 2012 ) St Augustine, Florida — Women without medical insurance risk dying from breast cancer at high rate. A Florida doctor's fund has already saved 12 lives. Dr. Jennie Yoon Buchanan spoke with a woman whose cancer grew while she waited to qualify for insurance. Once insurance coverage kicked in the woman made an appointment for a mammogram. Her cancer had spread too far for her life to be saved.
Dr. Buchanan realized the numbers of women with little or no medical coverage put their lives at risk by not having annual mammograms. Now, through her fund, the Jennie Yoon Buchanan M.D. Breast Cancer Fund Inc., help is available. This means, thanks to the generousity of donors, free mammograms are available to many uninsured women.
