State of Georgia waiting on elections to make changes in Medicaid Reports 2HealthInsurance.net

(USGovernment-News.Com, August 17, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA - As Medicaid seems to be the only way where needy people can receive funding for medical and health-related services, the State of Georgia is willing to wait on the upcoming election results to make any significant moves to the system.

Modest changes in Medicaid were made, which would not make much of a difference in terms of the presidential elections, which are to be held in November, but major changes could create issues if the next administration decides to make changes.

There is no telling at this time as to what may happen to Medicaid if a new administration steps into the White House, but there are three very clear options. Either the federal health reform will be kept as it is, totally repealed altogether or expanded upon.

According to a U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling earlier in July after the hearing of the health reform issues being faced by opposition leaders, the court did not do anything to make the law any clearer by saying that having it was according to the constitutions, but making expansions is something each state government has the right to decide.

“That created a fair amount of uncertainty,” Community Health Commissioner David Cook said, according to Savannahnow.com.

The state administration consisting of Governor Nathan Deal, has also yet to make up its mind as they are unsure about whether making an expansion is in the best interests or is even trimming it down a bit around the edges.

“The elections will give us some clarity on some paths forward,” Cook added.

Smaller changes made by the state are running the program in a more effective manner in terms of administrative procedures along with the share of information between hospitals has the patient ever need to go somewhere else.

Through the use of websites, an online database will now have the needed to create a much faster and hi-tech system where it really counts.
