Employment Rights Attorney Testifies Before New Jersey Senate Labor Committee on Employment Rights Bills

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 21, 2012 ) Mount Laurel, NJ - On Thursday, June 8, 2012, Costello & Mains partner Kevin M. Costello, Esquire, who concentrates his practice in the substantive trial of employment and civil rights matters, testified on behalf of the New Jersey Association for Justice before the New Jersey State Senate Labor Committee concerning five (5) separate initiatives affecting employment rights in New Jersey. These initiatives included a resolution calling upon the United States Congress to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act, a Bill to require New Jersey employers contracting with the State to keep certain data regarding gender and race of employees, a Bill to protect from retaliation those who share unequal compensation information for the purposes of ending pay discrimination, a measure changing the statute of limitations for unequal pay cases to reach back as far as the unequal pay practice lasted and, finally, a measure requiring the posting of certain equal pay rights in the workplace.

"I'm always honored to address our law making bodies on issues of such substantive importance," Kevin says. "I also very much appreciate that the sponsors of these Bills care so much about the working men and woman and families of New Jersey. The Bills are fair and reasonable, and balance the interests of employer and employee, and I was pleased and proud to support them as an employment rights attorney, as an employer, and as an officer of the New Jersey Association for Justice, which organization supports the Bills and supports the intent of the sponsors in protecting Employment Rights in our State."

The bills were released to the Senate floor for formal consideration.
