(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 25, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- With a purpose to assist low-to-moderate income persons, the Rankin County Human Resource Agency (RCHRA) was designated in 1989 to operate anti-poverty programs throughout the Rankin County area. Today, 23 years later, RCHRA continues to offer a range of programs, services and activities that are designed in a cost effective and timely manner to assist to low-to-moderate income households. Through these anti-poverty programs, RCHRA has worked to improve the economic and social conditions of residents by helping families and individuals to become stable and self-sufficient.
The state of the economy has become a sore topic for many. Experiencing tough economic hardships, many families and individuals have found themselves living in or at risk of poverty. The Cochran Firm knows the daily struggles these individuals face and want them to know about an agency solely dedicated to assisting them. The programs and services offered through RCHRA include a variety of support services such as food assistance, a clothing closet, furniture assistance and information and referral services. In addition to their support services, RCHRA also offers the following programs to eligible families and individuals:
• Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP): Assists families and individuals in paying their home energy bills and other related services by offering financial assistance to eligible households.
• Weatherization: Assists elderly, low-income or individuals with disabilities in attaining a healthy and energy efficient home to help lower their home energy cost.
• Families First Resource Center: Provides parenting classes, after-school tutoring programs for children, child abuse prevention seminars and teen pregnancy prevention/abstinence workshops.
• Aging Programs: RCHRA offers several services through their Aging Program for the elderly and individuals with disabilities. These services include: Home Delivery meals, Transportation, Homemaker Services, Ombudsman Services and Outreach Services.
