(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 18, 2012 ) Dothan, AL -- Due to unforeseen circumstances and financial hardships, many individuals face the constant struggle of fulfilling the basic needs of their family. At The Cochran Firm, we understand the critical needs of our clients and want individuals faced with these challenges to know about an organization dedicated to helping meet the needs of the underserved in the Dayton community. As a local non-profit organization, the goal of Good Neighbor House (GNH) is to improve the quality of life for their underserved neighbors. By offering a variety of health, nutrition and education services, GNH helps families and individuals to bridge the gap between their needs and the resources available to help them. Through partnerships and collaborations with other local community organizations, GNH offers the following services:
Human Services: To help meet the basic needs of the community, GNH provides food pantry services, clothing assistance and household items. Clients eligible for assistance may receive food every 30 days, clothing every 90 days and household items once a year. To qualify for assistance through the human services program, clients must:
-- Receive a referral from a social services agency or church specifying their need
-- Provide valid proof of ID
-- Present Social Security Cards for all household members
Health Services: GNH offers clients Medical, Eye and Dental care services in an effort to meet the increasing need of healthcare services in the Dayton Community.
-- Medical Services: Intended for patients 14 years of age or older, GNH’s medical services include general primary care, physical exams and blood screenings.
-- Eye Services: Available to patients of all ages, GNH’s eye services include routine eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions and vouchers for eyeglasses.
-- Dental: With a purpose to provide care for those ineligible to receive dental services, GNH’s dental services include filings, cleaning/exams, fluoride treatments, sealants, simple extractions and x-rays.
To be eligible for assistance through any of GNH’s health services, clients must be residents of Ohio and currently employed. They also must not be a recipient of any public assistance programs and have no form of dental insurance coverage. Additionally, clients must present proof of ID and Social Security Cards as well as proof that their income is at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
