Adolph Mongo Says Conyers Should Step Aside

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 21, 2012 ) Detroit, MI -- Adolph Mongo, a spokesman for Detroiters For Progress said that longrtime United States Congressman, John Conyers should retire and not run for reelection in 2012.

“Congressman Conyers for the past 20 years has lost touch with those citizens who have continually reelected him to office, Mongo stated. At one time, Rep. Conyers was a proven leader and a voice to those people who were voiceless. Unfortunately that has all changed.”

“Under his watch, cities such as Highland Park and Detroit has suffered from decay, crime and mass unemployment,” Mongo said.

"As the most senior elected official in Detroit and Highland Park, Conyers has been ineffective when comes to finding solutions to the problems that those two cities have faced, in the last two decades,” He added.

“Rep. Conyers also has been silent, when it comes to corruption and mismanagement. And as the senior elected official, he should take the Blount of the blame.” He added.

“The 13th District needs new blood, new ideals and a fresh face, Mongo said. For the sake of the voters, Rep. Conyers should call it quits,” Mongo said.

Detroiters For Progress is a citywide organization made up of several neighborhood organizations. It has over 300 members.
