$35 billion in funding will go to Criminal Justice programs beginning in the year 2013 Reports CriminalJusticeCollegeGuide.Com

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 03, 2012 ) San Francisco, California - Criminal Justice majors or people that are thinking about getting a degree in Criminal Justice may be able to receive a little bit more help from the government. President Obama has announced the push for a little over $35 billion in funding that will go to Criminal Just programs beginning in the year 2013.

The Criminal Justice field contains quite a few career options, and allows majors to use their degree in almost any type of field that they could possible want to go into. Criminal Justice covers corrections, law enforcement, forensics, criminology, court reporter, paralegal, social work and many other criminal related careers. While the majority of criminal justice majors will be using their degree as a stepping stone, many criminal justice majors are able to make quite a decent living with just a few courses and certifications.

President Obama has allotted a slight increase in the amount of funds that will be geared toward the Criminal Justice programs, but has not fully delegated which areas the money will go to or how it will be divided up. Some areas may receive a slight decrease while others will receive a decent increase, but the actual breakdown is yet to be determined.

Criminal Justice is beginning to become a more difficult field to go into with the decrease in local forces and the high level of competition. Federal and State level law enforcement is being forced to provide added protection where there is no longer any local law enforcement representation. The Federal and State level is generally much more difficult to be hired on at with most of them requiring a minimum of a bachelorÂ’s degree and an extensive level of experience. Many Criminal Justice majors strive to one day be in the Federal level of law enforcement with an FBI agent most likely being the most common goal. The Federal level is extremely difficult to acquire and will include extensive testing, experience and at least a degree.

There are many positions such as a paralegal or court reporter where the average person is able to learn the trade and make a rather decent living without a great deal of experience or graduate degrees. The announcement for the slight increase in the Criminal Justice programs is welcome assistance in a time when all programs have seen in the past few years are budget cuts.
