Shelbyville Works! To Unveil Community M.A.P.P.I.N.G. Plans.

(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 26, 2011 ) Shelbyville, IL -- As a result of their partnership with the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs, Shelbyville Works! wants to spread the word about all of the community planning efforts that have been taking place over the last 6 months. The diverse group of more than 50 individuals have been taking a proactive approach on behalf of the city to strategize the future vision of the community. M.A.P.P.I.N.G. stands for Management and Planning Programs Involving Non-metropolitan Groups.

“There’s been an unbelievable amount of community contribution to this effort.”

effort.” said John Chambers, one of the group’s steering committee leaders. “With a lot of teamwork, we’ve made big progress in a short amount of time. Everyone is looking forward to sharing some of the exciting things we’ve been working on.”

Just like old times, the group plans to hold a public “town hall” meeting in the Shelbyville Illinois Chautauqua to present their plans on October 8th immediately after the Scarecrow Daze parade. Those who attend will have an opportunity to register for free door prizes donated by various businesses, with a secret grand door prize to be unveiled closer to that day. After the presentation, informational booths will be available with individuals from the Shelbyville Works! committee there to answer questions from the Shelbyville IL public.

In addition to the showcase at the park, the group will also be raffling off one free ride in a Shelbyville Works! sponsored balloon at the Touchstone Energy Balloon Fest. Tickets are prices at $5 each or $20 for 6.

“We have a full lineup of fun-packed activities going on all weekend for everyone.” said Tad Mayhall, Shelbyville Works! committee member. ”With great volunteers, over the last few years these fests have truly grown into some of the many great things about Shelbyville.”

“I want to personally invite everyone to come out and enjoy all of the wonderful things we’ll have going on during the festivals.” Mayor Shuff said in closing.

More information about the fest activity lineup and raffle tickets purchasing locations can be found on the official City of Shelbyville IL social media pages at: Facebook.com/ShelbyvilleIL Twitter.com/ShelbyvilleIL and YouTube.com/ShelbyvilleIL
