ClassAction.org Announces Defective Chinese Drywall Alert

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 26, 2010 ) New York, NY - ClassAction.org is alerting homeowners to problems associated with defective Chinese drywall, which has been installed in new homes across the country. The defective wallboard reportedly emits a strong, rotten egg smell and has caused severe property damage, forcing owners to seek costly repairs.

Between 2004 and 2006, the United States suffered a drywall shortage, leading many companies to import the wallboard from overseas. Most of the defective drywall was imported from manufacturer Knauf Plasterboard Tianjin Co. Ltd, which is located in in China. Taylor Morrison and Lennar Homes were among the building companies mentioned in consumer complaints about Chinese drywall. However, many other companies may have also used the defective Chinese wallboard.

After the imported drywall was used in the construction of many new houses, homeowners began complaining of a sulfur-like smell. Because the odor was unable to be eliminated, many were forced out of their homes. In addition to causing a smell which homeowners likened to rotting eggs, the defective drywall was causing property damage. Corrosion of air conditioning coils, electrical problems and appliance failure were reported.

The cause of defective drywall is still being investigated. However, many defective drywall lawsuits are now alleging that waste material was used in the manufacturing of the drywall. This waste material, known as fly ash, can emit strong sulfur compounds including hydrogen sulfide and sulfur dioxide.

If you have suffered property damage as a result of defective Chinese drywall, visit http://www.classaction.org/chinese-drywall.html today. You may be able to participate in a lawsuit to recover compensation for your property damage.
