Two Arrested for Running Illegal Bar, Drug Rehab Newark Comments

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 25, 2016 ) Newark, NJ -- As reported by NJ.com, the operators of Mi Ranchito Social Club were arrested after undercover detectives responded to complaints of late night noise and drinking by neighbors. Dressed in plain clothes, detectives entered the establishment and observed David Alvarez and Maria Benitez illegally selling alcohol to patrons. The restaurant did not have a liquor license, leading Alvarez- the bartender and owner- to face charges related to illegal possession and sale of alcohol; Benitez, an employee of Alvarez, faces charges of aiding and abetting. More than 760 bottles of various beers and 13 bottles of liquors were confiscated along with nearly $500 in cash.

When it comes to alcohol rehab in Newark, learning to navigate a society in which drinking alcohol is normalized and openly accessible is a challenge faced by all recovery facilities. Drug Rehab Newark, a leader in the field, recognizes the dangers of unlicensed bars and alcohol sales and commends the officers involved in shutting down Mi Ranchito Social Club.

A representative of Drug Rehab Newark comments:
"Establishments like Mi Ranchito Social Club are dangerous because their lack of regulation can place patrons in serious peril. Their lack of licensing could lead to hesitation seeking proper help should an incident of life-threatening alcohol poisoning and overdose. Establishments like this also fuel alcohol abuse by selling alcohol without restraint, leading to a number of external social problems and worsening internal conflicts. There's a reason alcohol is so closely regulated- it is a drug, just as dangerous as any other, if not more."
