In the book, Stacey talks about her childhood in South Bronx, New York, when she was unfortunately molested by a teenaged family friend. She was also exposed to cocaine, to which she quickly became addicted. Dash also talks about being abused by a lover and her decision not to go through with an abortion.
Despite her life experiences, Dash has repeatedly criticized people who utilize public assistance programs, people living with substance abuse disorders, and made other insensitive comments.
