(USGovernment-News.Com, February 02, 2016 ) Charlotte, NC -- According to Correction One a Prison Correctional Officer of Broward Creek Correctional Institution has been arrested for attempting to smuggle marijuana and suboxone into the prison for inmates. Officers apprehended Travis Terez Hubbard while he fled the prison and attempted to escape in his car; and officers found contraband while retracing Hubbard's steps. Hubbard will face sentencing January 5th of 2016. Drug and Alcohol Rehab Charlotte applauds Brown Creek Correctional Institution for detecting the illicit substances attempted to be smuggled by Hubbard, yet emphasizes the need for prevention tactics before contraband is brought into the facility.
An associate from the treatment center comments, "We remain impressed at the dedication prisons around the nations have in safeguarding prisoners from contraband intended for them, but we must implement means of thwarting the inclination to smuggle contraband into prisons. Equally important for those with substance use disorders, prevention education for correctional officers would do well to dissuade many from smuggling. Presentations may include an in-depth analysis of addiction, potential, explicit threats to inmates and an introduction of the full extent of laws revolving smuggling. Prevention course ought to be mandatory and appeal to all pathos, ethos, and logos."
