Drug Florida Rehab Encourages University Sports Teams to Have Open Dialogue About Addiction

(USGovernment-News.Com, October 28, 2015 ) Miami, FL -- Florida Atlantic University has "the talk' at the beginning of the season with their University football players- they even hand out business cards, according to the Orlando Sentinel. Players are encouraged to carry around the cards, which have anti-drug messages, to remind players of the dangers addictive substances pose to the likelihood of their careers, and physical wellbeing. In the wake of Lamar Odom's recent overdose, Drug Florida Rehab is encouraging universities to participate in educating their students on the dangers of addiction and substance abuse early on. Drug Florida Rehab is a drug and alcohol treatment facility dedicated to helping people overcome substance use disorders.

The treatment facility asserts lessening the stigma of addiction on the university level will help students seek help for substance use disorders. An associate from the facility comments,
"When you level the communication plane, students are able to come to trusted educational professionals, or utilize addiction or medical outlets on campus, if they are lead to believe addiction is treatable, and the stigma surrounding the condition is unfair. In light of what's happened with Lamar Odom, I believe now more than ever, it's critical we're reaching our younger generations to turn to treatment, as opposed to harbor their addictions silently. Even the FAU 'business cards,' are stepping in the right direction, but are missing the mark when they say, 'Coach Partridge will NOT let me. . .embarrass the program' because of a substance use disorder.

"We cannot continue to purport addiction is a legitimate disease if we also continue to shame it. Sentiments ascribing blame should not be used when communicating with the student body, because the wrong message is retained and taken to heart. Instead of focusing on a supposed embarrassment, why aren't we focusing on addressing the underlying causes of the condition, or encouraging our youth to feel comfortable in admitting they need help?"

Drug Florida Rehab offers comprehensive heroin rehab in Florida and drug rehab in Florida, but accepts clients from the entire United States. The center is focused around cognitive behavioral therapy, and helps patients to rewire behavior from the source of addiction. The facility is monitored 24 hours, and offers both detoxification and rehabilitation treatment.
