Flakka Use Spikes in Kentucky After Infecting Florida

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 23, 2015 ) Orlando, FL -- South Florida is still battling with the pernicious effects of Alpha-PVP, flakka, and the illicit substance is spreading fast. Flakka use induces hallucinations, delirium, and chronic addiction quickly. First time users can become hooked after only one experience with the substance. USA Today quotes a recovered flakka addict, "You can't stop, it's like crack cocaine. But it's better." The law enforcement officials of Kentucky expect flakka use to continue spreading throughout the state, according to USA Today. The addictive substances retails on the street for $100 to $500 a gram. As of present, there are not any laws in place to arrest manufactures and pushers of the substance for any substantial amount of time. Those high on the substance exhibit superhuman strength and are intently aggressive. Many are found naked and incoherently blabbering.

A drug epidemiologist from the Center for Applied Research on substance Use and Health Disparity at Nova Southeastern University in Florida, Jim Hall, is quoted by USA Today, stating flakka eventually deteriorates the brain,

"[Users] will frequently tear off their clothes and run wild, believing they are being chased by people or even imaginary wild animals seeking to kill them. This is the fight or flight reaction that also creates superhuman-like adrenaline-fueled strength oftentimes taking up to seven law enforcement officers to restrain them. And once restrained, they require immediate medical attention or they can die."

After a flood of bizarre reports from both Florida, Kentucky and other affected states, flakka is readily becoming a source of concern around the nation. An associate from Orlando Drug Rehab asserts culling the flakka epidemic should be on the foremost of local officials agendas to curb addiction, overdose, and death rates. The associate comments,

"The rise of flakka use is deeply concerning, as the drug is not only potent, but is exceedingly addictive. Some studies show the substance may beat out cocaine and meth in terms of how addictive the substance is. Many don't understand the necessity of going to treatment for flakka until it's too late and the user has either egregiously broken the law, or has suffered a serious injury as a direct cause of flakka use. Synthetic drugs always cause increased health problems and difficulty, like K2, because the substances are always changing, making it hard for lawmakers to zero in on the substance effectively. Medically, it's hard to treat cases involving synthetic substances because the chemical composition fluctuates wildly, making it difficult to predict symptoms and administer treatment."
