More States Consider To Pass Regulations That Require Dogs Owners To Use Short Leashes In Public.

(USGovernment-News.Com, July 13, 2015 ) Charleston, West Virginia -- According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are about 30-40 people who died due to fatal dog attacks. Every year, there are around 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs. The group that has the highest complain over dog's aggression are from runners, bicyclists, children and seniors. This fact raises a concern in many States to pass more restrictions on walking dogs in public.

Over the last decade, many dog owners start to raise dog breeds that are naturally aggressive. In some sub cultures, training aggressive dogs can show certain social status or considered as an "extreme" hobby. John Goodwin is an expert on animal fighting Humane Society believes that some people even raise and train aggressive dogs for fighting. He urges a more forceful action from lawmakers to make public safer.

Many States such as Connecticut, Delaware and Indiana have strict regulations and dog owners will face criminal penalties if they let their dogs attack other people. Dogs in Columbia are even banned on school grounds when schools are in session. Many States have statewide laws or have localities to enforce leash law, which means that dog owners have to use short leash when walking dogs in public. There are more States are considering to pass more restrictive regulations to increase safety in public.

Many experts also concern about the quality of dog leash. High quality dog leashes can be made of leather, nylon or chain. The material of dog leash has to be durable and sturdy enough, and leashes must be checked periodically to ensure they are maintained in proper condition.

John Alison, founder of Pets Lovers Club, recommended "Dog leashes were made of chain are usually heavy, while leather ones are easily chew by dogs. The most popular material to be used is Nylon." Pets Lovers Club offers a special nylon dog leash that has double layers. This design makes the leash studier but it is still lightweight.

Dog owners should be more aware of owning 6-foot leashes for their dogs when they go on summer vacation with these furry family members. This will ensure a safe and pleasurable trip.
